Analysis by Praxikon

Why is this material?

The standard for the quality management system now has legal effect: whoever applies it no longer has to prove conformity for the covered requirements on their own.

What does this mean in practice?

The presumption reaches only as far as the standard. For risk management, data, logging, transparency, human oversight and accuracy the European standards are still in draft, so evidence of your own remains necessary there.

What may need to be reassessed?

  • Record that you apply EN 18286:2026, with the reference from Implementing Decision (EU) 2026/2274.
  • Map per clause which internal document provides the evidence.
  • Note which parts of Article 17 and which other requirements fall outside the standard and substantiate them yourself.
  • Ask suppliers for evidence that they apply the standard, not just a reference to it.

For whom and which provisions?
