The situation in this country
Czechia has not yet adopted its implementing act. On 28 May 2025 the government approved the implementation plan with the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MPO) as coordinator. The MPO's minimalist draft designates the CTU as the main market surveillance authority and single point of contact, with the Czech National Bank and the data protection authority UOOU as sectoral supervisors and UNMZ as notifying authority. The draft completed inter-ministerial consultation but had not been adopted by mid-2026. The CTU is already communicating actively about the Article 50 transparency obligations.

CTU alert: transparency rules apply from 2 August 2026
On 31 July 2026 the CTU issued a press release on the Article 50 transparency obligations applying from 2 August 2026. The regulator urges entities to assess whether they must disclose chatbot interactions, machine-readably mark AI-generated content, and disclose emotion recognition or biometric categorisation.

MPO presents draft law on artificial intelligence
The MPO finalised its draft AI law, a minimalist implementing act of roughly ten pages. The CTU becomes the single point of contact, UNMZ the notifying authority, and the draft adds regulatory sandboxes and lower penalty thresholds for smaller entities. It completed the comment procedure and then awaited government approval.

Government approves AI Act implementation plan, MPO becomes coordinator
On 28 May 2025 the Czech government approved the proposal for implementing the AI Act. The MPO was designated coordinating ministry and the CTU as the intended market surveillance body, alongside roles for UNMZ and the standardisation agency CAS.
