The situation in this country
Finland opted for a decentralised model: the Act on the Supervision of Certain AI Systems (1377/2025) distributes supervision across 15 authorities, nine of them market surveillance authorities and eight fundamental rights authorities, with Traficom as national contact point and coordinator. The powers of these supervisors apply since 1 January 2026. Additional legislation on national regulatory sandboxes was foreseen by 2 August 2026. No AI Act fines or formal investigations are known yet.

Act 1377/2025 on supervision of AI systems in force
The Act on the Supervision of Certain Artificial Intelligence Systems (1377/2025) entered into force on 1 January 2026. It organises supervision of AI systems under the AI Regulation, designates the competent authorities per sector and grants them supervisory and enforcement powers.

Traficom contact point; supervision spread across 15 authorities
Since 1 January 2026 the powers of the Finnish supervisory authorities under the AI Regulation are in effect. Traficom is the national contact point and coordinates implementation; supervision is distributed across 15 authorities, nine of them market surveillance authorities and eight fundamental rights supervisors.
