The situation in this country
Poland is among the first in this cluster to complete a full implementing act. The Act on Artificial Intelligence Systems of 3 July 2026 was signed on 24 July 2026 and published on 27 July 2026 (Journal of Laws 2026, item 1003). It establishes KRiBSI as the market surveillance authority and single point of contact, with the Minister of Digital Affairs as notifying authority, supported by the Polish accreditation centre. The core provisions enter into force on 11 August 2026, with part of the provisions following on 28 October 2026. The KRiBSI chair must be appointed within two months of entry into force (expected October 2026) and the commission is expected to be operational around November 2026, so no supervisor is functioning yet.

President Nawrocki signs the implementing act
President Karol Nawrocki signed the Act on Artificial Intelligence Systems on 24 July 2026, anchoring the EU AI Act in Polish law and creating KRiBSI as the AI market supervisor.

Sejm passes the Act on AI Systems
The Sejm passed the act on 11 June 2026 with 421 votes in favour, 3 against and 18 abstentions. The law establishes KRiBSI as the national supervisory body and introduces regulatory sandboxes. The Senate proposed amendments on 25 June 2026, after which the Sejm completed the parliamentary process.

Polish government adopts bill on AI systems
On 31 March 2026 the Council of Ministers adopted the draft Act on Artificial Intelligence Systems, Poland's implementing law for the AI Act, submitted by the Minister of Digital Affairs. The bill was then sent to the Sejm.
